Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Joins UISOL Board of Directors

Lafayette, Cal. ( Aug 25, 2010) — Utility Integration Solutions, Inc. (UISOL), the utility industry business integration specialist and developer of the market leading demand response management software DRBizNet, today announced that renowned environmental advocate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has joined the company’s board of directors.

Regarding his board appointment, Kennedy said, “UISOL has been a leader in demand response and smart grid integration. Working with UISOL, we hope to accelerate demand response from its current level, which is about four percent of peak electricity demand, to its estimated potential of 20 percent, in line with the FERC National Action Plan for Demand Response.”

Demand Response is green, economically compelling, and vastly underdeveloped. UISOL has championed the development of the market leading software for demand response management, software that is already deployed at three grid operators covering more than half of the United States. To date, the software has enabled more than 200 companies to provide over 7000 megawatts of demand response from 450,000 end-use customers. “This is roughly equivalent to several large power plants that, as a result of implementing UISOL’s software, we do not need to build. At the same time, the end- users that are providing this demand response receive payments that make their businesses more competitive in the global economy,” noted Mr. Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy was named one of Time magazine’s “Heroes for the Planet,” and is the author of the New York Times bestseller Crimes Against Nature (2004). His articles have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, The Nation, Outside Magazine, The Village Voice, and many other publications. He serves as President of Waterkeeper Alliance, is a clinical professor and supervising attorney at Pace University School of Law, and is a venture partner and senior advisor at VantagePoint Venture Partners, one of the world’s premiere cleantech venture capital firms.

Mr. Kennedy is a graduate of Harvard University, studied at the London School of Economics, and received his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He subsequently attended Pace University School of Law, where he was awarded a Masters Degree in Environmental Law.
