Areva, Utility Integration Solutions working together
The T&D unit of Areva and Utility Integration Solutions (UISol), a business integration specialist, plan to work together to develop and market smart grid technology, UISOL told the press yesterday.
Paris-based Areva specializes in T&D and nuclear power and will apply its knowledge of SCADA — among other things. On Lafayette, Calif-based UISol’s side, its knowledge of interoperability standards with which utilities are struggling will come in handy, UISol said.
The alliance will, according to UISol, let the firms design and build custom smart grid systems. Developing DR solutions is among the offerings the partners plan.
The same division at Areva this month announced a similar alliance with the PJM Interconnection, the RTO. Areva helped launch a number of industry firsts including a location-based solution for the multi-settlement power market called LMP (SGT, Jun-11).
