Distribution Management Systems (DMS)
Robert (Bob) Uluski, Vice President of Distributed Automation and Distribution Management Systems
As one of the nation’s leading technology and business experts on electric power system automation, Bob Uluski leads UISOL’s consulting practice on distributed automation and DMS. He delivers client-focused service based on more than 35 years’ experience — including twenty years as a consultant in T&D automation. He has served as project manager or lead technical consultant on numerous projects involving distribution management systems (DMS) and substation and distribution automation projects for electric utilities in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Bob came to UISOL from EPRI, where he was Technical Executive in Power Delivery and Utilization. Prior to EPRI, Bob served as DMS subject matter expert for BC Hydro’s DMS deployment, which included a full suite of operations support tools and advanced DMS applications (including volt-VAR control, automatic service restoration, integration with advanced metering infrastructure, and dispatcher training simulator). He also served as DMS “owner’s engineer” for Hydro One’s DMS deployment. Bob was project manager of the ENMAX power corporation (Calgary) DA project that was awarded Pennwell’s “Automation project of the year” in 2004.
In 2010, the IEEE Power Engineering Society awarded Bob the Douglas M. Staszesky Award for contributions in the field of Distribution Automation. Bob serves as the secretary for the IEEE PES Working Group on Smart Distribution and as secretary of the IEEE PES task force on Volt-VAR control
