Murray Nixon, Vice President

Murray helps utility clients define and execute process and system changes associated with major business transformations. Murray leads process improvement and transformation, information technology and large scale project management for the utility industry worldwide. She draws on over 27 years executive management, including numerous startup programs for major energy players. Murray provides the highest level of strategy, planning and execution of utility operational plans and evaluation of core business.

Murray has a bachelor degree in mathematics. She is president of the North Carolina State University Consumer Sciences Foundation and has served on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School of Math and Science Advisory Board.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

  • Manager of implementation for ERCOT Nodal market system project.
  • Duke Energy Corporation. Began engineering and technical services support group to provide process, technical, and system improvement and integration services to all generating assets. Began first Duke Power group on human capital strategic planning.
  • Represented Duke on California ISO implementation team. Led design, development, testing and implementation of scheduling infrastructure and market operations subsystems.
  • Duke Energy North America and Duke Energy Intl. Led teams to support and improve business processes for trading and marketing, risk management, e-business, and power generation. Led teams to integrate acquired businesses into the Duke portfolio.

AWARDS

  • Duke Energy Pinnacle Award, 1999. First female recipient. For design and implementation of a real-time performance and cost-monitoring system critical to integration of trading and marketing, plant operation and asset management business process.
  • Computer World Smithsonian Laureate Award, 2000. and Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Blue Diamond Award to her team for “Best Use of Technology” for design and development of real-time performance and cost-monitoring system.
